I have for sale the out-of-print, 1st Edition, Hardcover Book "LARIONOV" by
Igor Larionov, Jim Taylor and Leonid Reizer (1990). The edition contains
149 pages of text as well as black and white photographs profiling the life
of Soviet Hockey player Igor Larionov.
Front Jacket Excerpt:
"It wasn't the money that brought Igor Larionov to the National Hockey
League, or the lifestyle he knew would be lavish in comparison to what he
had, even as a star, in the Soviet Union. "I left for one reason", he says.
"Freedom to choose my own path."
Thus begins this extraordinary tale of a man who chafed for a decade under
the personal and professional chains of Soviet hockey, fighting it every
step of the way until 1989-with one desperate gamble that could have ended
his international hockey career - he finally won his freedom and a chance
to play in the National Hockey League with the Vancouver Canucks." You'll
see the Team Canada-Russia hockey series from the Soviet side of the puck,
as you follow Larionov from a small town rink in Voskresenk through an Army
career he never wanted and onto the world stage for a head-to-head showdown
with Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and the rest of the NHL's best."
The front and back jacket feature action photos of Igor Larionov wearing
his white with gold, red, and black trim Vancouver Canucks' uniform.
