For much of the first period, it was very much an old-school hockey
experience. No music. No ads (except on the boards). No PA. Nothing but the
scrape of skates and the roar of the crowd. Kinda nice.

Of course, no power meant pre-zamboni era ice quality all night as well.

Yep, the ice was terrible. Too bad part of their $17m upgrade wasn't
a backup power system! Anyway, I thought that both teams were
fighting the puck all night, and there were a couple of times that it
cost the Sharks scoring opportunities, or perhaps opportunities to
ring another couple of shots off metal posts!
