NASHVILLE PREDATORS AGREE TO TERMS WITH FORWARD VLADIMIR ORSZAGH
Nashville, Tenn. (August 9, 2004) - Nashville Predators Executive Vice
President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club
has agreed to terms with forward Vladimir Orszagh (VLAD-ih-meer
OHR-sahg). In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not
disclosed.
Orszagh, 27 (5/24/77), posted a career-high in points (37) and tied
his career-high in goals (16) and assists (21) in 2003-04. The 5-11,
195-pound forward has scored at least 15 goals in each of his last
three seasons with Nashville and was one of four Predators to appear
in all 82 games last year.
The Banska Bystrica, Slovakia native scored his first career hat trick
in a 4-1 win vs. Buffalo on November 29 and tied for the team lead
with two playoff goals in Nashville's first-ever playoff series this
past April vs. Detroit. He has 110 points (50g-60a) in 273 career NHL
games with Nashville and the New York Islanders.
Orszagh registered two assists in nine games with Team Slovakia at the
2004 World Championships and has been named to Slovakia's 2004 World
Cup team. Originally the Islanders' fourth selection, 106th overall
(fifth round), in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, he was first signed by
Nashville as a free agent on June 1, 2001.
