I access this newsgroup through my Microsoft Outlook and was wondering if
there is a way to access the newgroups through Internet Explorer? We don't
have Outlook at work, therefore no newsgroups, but during lunch etc I'd like
to be able to I'd log on and see whats doin. Can I log on using my Browser?

Google groups.
You have to subscribe to individual NG's and the
interface takes a bit longer but you can get your Habs
fix (and any other NG) that way.

yep - just do a google on alt.canadiens or any other ng you are
interested in and you will see all of the posts. Then with a gmail
account, you can log in and post and reply. I set my gmail alias to the
same as my ng alias at home that way it looks like its coming from the
same person.

Isn't Outlook a virus magnet?

I avoid it myself. I use Netscape for email and a dedicated
newsreader called Forte Agent for usenet.

I've used Netscape for usenet too but I prefer the interface in Agent.

What's happened to Souray? - Obviously he didn't want to return to Montreal, but if he ends up signing for 5 mill or less and doesn't go to the west coast isn't that just a little bit embarrasing for him? I think he overestimated his value some.

All I'm hoping... - ....is that the Habs win the Cup before 2011. Because if they don't win it by then, all the players in that draft year will have been born AFTER the Habs' last Cup. I think that's pretty much unprecedented in club history. In fact, I'm getting older. ...

Souray and the cap - Lets say that Souray realizes he's made a mistake. The only teams out there for him now are NJ (soon to be in rebuild mode) or the Islanders or other such teams. If you're Gainey and he comes back and says "Bob. I've thought about it and realize ...
