I hope Zaiem doesn't mind me doing this, but since he's been awol for
some time, I'll kick it off prior to the season start. I left all of
his point totals in place from last year. Zaiem, we expect you to
tally up the numbers in May. :-)
Chris
20 questions. Here we go.
1. How many points in the standings will the Avalanche have at the end
of
the season? (25 points.)
2. How many wins will they have? (25 points.)
3. Where will they finish in the division? (25 points.)
4. How far will they go in the playoffs? Your choices are: Miss the
playoffs, lose in first round, lose in second round, lose in
Conference
Finals, lose in Cup Finals, win Cup. (25 points.)
5. If they do not win the Cup, which team will eliminate them from the
postseason? (35 points.)
Note: If you chose "miss the playoffs" as the answer for question
4, that will be your answer for this one as well. If you are correct,
you will be awarded points for both.
6. Who will represent the Western Conference in the Stanley Cup
Finals?
(25 points.)
7. Who will represent the Eastern Conference in the Stanley Cup
Finals?
(25 points.)
8. Who will win the Stanley Cup? (25 points.)
9. Who will be the team's leading goal-scorer? (15 points.)
Note: If the Avalanche acquire someone via trade midseason, his goal
totals with his previous team will not be counted, nor will a player's
goal totals with his new team if an Avalanche player is traded
midseason.
10. How many goals will he score? (25 points.)
11. Who will be the team's leading point-scorer? (15 points.)
Note: See disclaimer for question 9.
12. How many points will he score? (25 points.)
13. Who will lead the team in penalty minutes? (15 points.)
Note: See disclaimer for question 9.
14. How many penalty minutes will he get? (25 points.)
15. Which players, if any, on the Avalanche roster on opening day will
be
traded during the season? (30 points for each correct answer; -10
points
for each incorrect answer.)
16. Which goaltender will lead the team in wins? (15 points.) Note:
See
disclaimer for question 9.
17. How many wins will he get? (25 points.)
18. Which goaltender will lead the team in save percentage? (15
points.)
Note: See disclaimer for question 9.
19. What will his save percentage be? (25 points.)
20. Which major hardware, if any, will be won by an Avalanche player
or
coach at the end of the year? Choices are the Hart, Ross, Vezina,
Norris,
Calder, Conn Smythe, Richard, Masterton, Pearson, Lady Byng, or Adams
trophy. (20 points for each correct answer. -5 points for each
incorrect
answer.) >> Stay informed about: Fifth Annual ASHNCA Prediction Contest |

Sakic - Lady Byng. (The media soft spot for Sakic should be starting
around this season, so someone will want him to win something).

After a lengthy internal debate, I decided not to submit answers like
"36 points, 14 wins, miss playoffs, etc." and run with these:
