Post subject: Articles in mainstream sports media lifted from RSC
Archived from groups: rec>sport>cricket, others (more info?)

I don't know whether it is just my observation, but many times I have
found to my
chagrin that topic-ideas that first appear here on RSC as a breath of
fresh air
by creative rsc posters later turn up as mainstream articles in places
like
Cricinfo, Times of India etc. etc.

Now it is quite possible that an idea could occur to different people,
but I have
found too often rsc precedes these other mainstream sports sources.

A typical example will be the thread that dealt with the possible
extinction of
OD50 with the advent of T20, trapped as it is in a no-man's-land
between
Test and T20 cricket. This was discussed a few weeks back on RSC and
I
still remember the comments made by cricket8 and others and now I find
the
same topic now being printed as a mainstream sports article on TOI.
Now
whether the TOI writer has lifted the idea from that RSC thread is
moot, but this is
happening time and time again to dismiss this as a mere coincidence
and has also happened many times in the past from my own experience.

Regardless, IMHO, the best place for cutting edge ideas on cricket is
without
doubt RSC, other than those posts that indulge in mindless mudslinging
and personal
abuse and those posters that go on an ego trip and act as if they are
the final
and ultimate word on cricket.

That is why I always prefer RSC even over Cricinfo. Just my opinion.
I believe that this is where all the action happens and is just a
great place for cricket fans.
One of the reasons is definitely the freedom to express views unbound
by
editorial red tape as happens with the traditional sports media..
