Chelmsford Chieftains 6-1 Guildford Flames
Sunday 25th February 2007
English Premier League
Riverside Ice & Leisure Centre, Victoria Road, Chelmsford, Essex, CM1
1FG, England
After a day off on Saturday, the Flames travelled to Chelmsford and
returned home with a 6-1 loss to the Chieftains. The Chieftains
opened the scoring just under 5 minutes in through Kyle Amyotte.
Before the midway mark of the opening frame, Ollie Bronnimann tied the
score, and the clubs skated into the second period deadlocked at 1
each. At 21:58, Duane Ward gave the Chieftains the lead, and with
less than 20 seconds on the period clock Ward repeated the feat to
give the Chelmsford outfit some breathing room, up 3-1 at the end of
the middle session. With Bracknell off and Sheffield suffering a loss
this night, a productive Flames 3rd was required to make up ground on
the league leaders, but the productivity came from the other side of
the ice in the final session as the Chieftains buried 3 more strikes
to ensure the win. In the 47th minute Darren Cotton made it 4-1, and
then he, again, made it 5-1 less than a minute after that. Amyotte
added a 6th before the 50 minute mark, completing the scoring and
sending the Flames back to Spectrum with the loss.
