Guildford Flames 1-7 Slough Jets
Sunday 7th January 2007
English Premier League
Guildford Spectrum, Parkway, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 1UP, England
The Flames took their league table lead back to Spectrum ice on Sunday
evening to face the Slough Jets, and the visitors jumped out to a 2-0
lead before the end of the first session on their way to a 7-1
victory, handing the Flames thier first home league defeat of the
season. A Zoran Kozic shoot in from near centre ice slipped under the
pads of Tom Annetts before the game was 2 minutes old, giving the
travellers a 1-0 edge. Shortly thereafter Blaz Emersic added another
to extend the lead to a pair, a lead that carried over into the middle
frame. At 23:47, Emersic converted a goal line Nicky Chinn pass to
make it 3-0, and at 33:16, Emersic completed the natural hat trick to
give the Jets a commanding 4 goal lead ahead of the second break.
Just under 5 minutes into the 3rd, Zoran Kozic netted a powerplay
strike moving the scoreboard to 5-0. The Flames finally found the
goal at 55:15, when Ollie Bronnimann netted, but the homeside joy was
shortlived as the Jets added another 41 seconds later through Nicky
Chinn. Former Flame Tony Redmond found the final strike at 58:29 to
complete the scoring, giving a the Jets a 7-1 win and a psychological
boost ahead of the 2 game aggregate Premier Cup Semi final to be
played between these two clubs near the end of January.
