After 4 consecutive defeats, the Flames travelled across the pond to
take on the Wightlink Raiders and scored 3 3rd period strikes to halt
the slide with a 5-3 win. The Flames left the first period with a 2-1
lead, but trailed 1-0 early when Stewart Tait opened the scoring at
3:31. Nick Cross replied at 14:28 to tie the score at 1 each. Marian
Smerciak gave the Flames the lead just over 2 minutes later. In the
middle stanza the Raiders levelled with the only strike of the period
when Dominic Hopkins found the goal to set up a winner take all 3rd.
Early in the final session Robert Sobala gave the Flames a 3-2 lead,
and shortly thereafter Smerciak's second of the night extended the
lead to a pair. Nicky Watt pulled the Raiders back to within a goal,
but a final strike by Neil Liddiard before the period was 10 minutes
old sealed the Flames win and a pair of league points.
