The Red Wings got Todd Bertuzzi from Florida for Shawn Matthias and a
bunch of provisional deals depending on TB's performance and how far
Detroit goes in the playoffs.
This may be worth it just to keep Bertuzzi from going to Calgary or some
other Western team that may face Detroit in the first round.

I know he beats the piss out of the Wings whenever they played against
him, so I'm hoping he'll be able to do that against other teams. He's a
big boy in the corners and in front of the net, and that's what the
Wings needed. Whether he can actually play after this back injury is
another thing, but I can't imagine Holland would sign him on a coin flip
over his back.
Speaking of garbage, Colorado picked up Scott Parker...again.

ah, fresh as a daisy. wasn't this a good thing when Forsberg did it?
If he can just add some grit up front, I'll be happy. Not a fan, but
if he's healthy, he's worth a pick.

I'm with you on this one. Bertuzzi for nothing is a hell of a move. He
fits in perfectly in Detroit. Wouldn't surprise me to see him in a Wings
uni for the next five years, if not longer.
The Wings haven't picked up a guy who so obviously fit the franchise
since the Shanahan and Chelios trades.

I was driving when I heard. Almost ditched it trying to turn up the
radio to be sure I din't imagine it.
Sigh... I was just getting over...ALMOST...the Chelios deal. I'll not
be a fan of Bertoothie ever now, would have been hard BEFORE "The
Bertuzzi Incident", but I mighta gotten over the cement head thing IF
he worked out. Now, I'm fairly bummed. And now WHAT IF HE DOES work
out? Arrrgghh.... At what price Lord Stanley?!?!?!? WHAT PRICE, I
ask!!
Sigh. I know there were alot of things that led up to what happened-
but I cannot get the image of that hit out of my mind.
The NHL has to dump the instigator rule, and let enforcers do their
work. I'll wager the whole friggin' incident would have been avoided
with the exception of a bloodied nose or two. >> Stay informed about: Wings get Bertuzzi |

Hey, I'm a Vancouver fan, and understand that with what happened with Moore,
lots of fans are going to detest Bertuzzi. That said, there are probably
only two or three teams who he couldn't help, if healthy. A trade for
nothing more than draft picks is a gimme. Take it, roll the dice, and you
may go long. >> Stay informed about: Wings get Bertuzzi |

I am an Avs fan, obviously. I thought Bertuzzi should have been
suspended until Moore made his return, and at least owed Moore more than
he would have earned in the NHL career that Bertuzzi stole from him. I
also think (know) that Bertuzzi is a complete effing imbecile. He is.
There's no denying that.
That said, I was hoping the Avs would find a way to acquire him. He's
exactly what the Avs need - a guy who, when healthy, is a consistent
scoring threat, who plays a rough physical game, who intimidates the
opposition and plays with fire.
The Wings got him, and he will fit perfectly there. In hindsight, it's
probably better that he didn't end up in Colorado, as guys who have
issues in their old cities never "turn it around" in Colorado. Think
Theodore, Fleury, Selanne, Kariya, etc. If you've got issues and you
come to Colorado, you're going to have bigger issues when you leave.

It's a no-brainer.
Which explains how Holland was able to do it.

Obviously, we all know he's had back issues that's kept him out
since...what...October? Back injuries and hockey just don't mix, but I
also can't imagine the scouts didn't do their due diligence before
recommending him as a potential add-on.
We'll see how it pans out. I have been telling anyone who'd listen the
Wings just need to toughen up, if Bertuzzi plays as he can he'll
hopefully prove me correct.

You may be right, its possible that the best Bertuzzi can be at this
point of his career is what Tkachuk was this year. And that may be
a tretch, Bertuzzi won't play physical anymore after the Moore
attack - it damaged him upstairs.
I guess wings fans can't get on us over Claude Lemieux re-arranging
Draper's face. >> Stay informed about: Wings get Bertuzzi |
