The little Nazi is threatening to kick the Ranger's owners out. I wonder
who'll win that battle of egos.

Nobody forced the Rangers to accept contractual agreements that happen
to be detrimental to them. On the surface, yielding control of a team
website seems absurd, but the Rangers are trying to get around league
wide distribution of revenue from hockey fan apparel and souvenirs.

Nevertheless this could be the start of decline in Bettman's power.
Yay!

In a way, you have to give Bettman credit for being willing to take on
what must be one of the richest owners in the sport in one of the sport's
biggest markets. Granted, a lot of it must be bluff and bluster - I can't
see the league forcing the current owners to sell. But it should be
interesting to see how this all shakes out.

What choice did they have, Dave? Majority rules, and they voted for
Stalinism. So there's a Nazi Napoleon in charge of a Stalinist
collective of fascists. The Rangers ownership never had a chance.

With respect, of course they were forced. They disagreed with some parts of
the agreement but were outvoted, likely by the sub-group loyal to Bettman.
Thus they didn't accept what the League was doing and went to court (and
subsequently lost). They dared to claim that the Rangers should control the
Rangers' web site and merchandising rights. They were subsequently fined
and now Bettman is turning the screws once again.

I agree on the other point- let's hope some more cracks start appearing in
the dam. Unfortunately, I suspect this circus will continue unabated and
Bettman and his collection of ex-cons, soon-to-be cons and should-be-cons
will carry on as per usual.
