As I said in my introductory news conference, I have three pillars that I
base my teams on:

1. Having a team that plays an exciting and entertaining style. The Leafs
will justify the price of the ticket every night on the ice.

(Nothing justifies the price of Tickets at the ACC)

2. I believe teams need to operate in a fiscally responsible manner. We will
spend our fans' and our sponsors' money intelligently and make decisions
that are right for the team.

(Hmmmm I think they are starting to smell a Recession coming)

3. I expect all of our players and coaches to be leaders in the community.
Community service is not an option. I am thrilled to see the Leafs
organization already has a strong culture of giving back to the community
through initiatives and programs led by the Leafs Fund for Kids, Leafs
Hockey Development and Leafs Community Relations. The Leafs lead the NHL in
community initiatives, team appearances and fundraising. This will continue
to be a priority for our team.

(Just don't start carrying guns like those guys in the NFL....doesn't look
good in the morning headlines....LOL)

Listen up, Sparky. He's committed to bang for the buck. He's right -
it's entertainment.

No, but there's the relativity issue.

Message to Owl..... - We are perfectly capable of reading newspapers.... you do not need to provide the copy and paste service to this newsgroup.

48 Free Agents signed so far - 48 as of this time and date, and when you include the players otherwise moved in trades, that averages out to almost 2 players per team. How many rookies will make each team, on average? More than before because the teams will be looking to sign player...

Now THAT is a hometown discount - Iginla barely 30 and in the prime of his career signing for $5m - yeah, that's a hometown discount allright. The deal Sundin signed near the end of his... it sure isn't one, no matter what his agent or MLSE keep telling us.

Edmonton tenders offer sheet to Tomas Vanek - 50mil over 7 years...for which Vanek has signed. Sabres have called a press conference for 12:30pm (EST) today. Wow!! I guess with everyone leaving Edmonton and Lowe having a tough time signing UFA's....that this was their best route to take. If..
