Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
Who is the flattest hockey team of all?
Oy vey, what a stinkeroo.
BTW: On the possibly related note (but not exoneration), regarding
the Sharks' dismal play at home, I was attending a Christmas party in
Chicago last night, and one of the host's close friends is the co-
owner of the Chicago Wolves, Atlanta's AHL farm club. While chatting,
I mentioned being a close followers of the Sharks, and we discussed
their woeful home record, as against their sterling road record. He
offered that the general opinion among many players, who have played
at the Tank, is that it has, bar none, the worst ice in the NHL.
That's saying something, when you have teams in Tampa and Miami.
Perhaps, the Sharks' ownership would be doing the fans a favor if they
lowered the arena temperature and ice temperature a bit, instead of
thinking nobody will be happy unless they can watch games in Bermuda
shorts. I'd think most fans would trade shorts for a sweater and a
faster game and a few more wins, perhaps. >> Stay informed about: Buffalo |

The ice didn't bother the Sabres, did it? >> Stay informed about: Buffalo |

Agreed--if this is true, and you know it--how do use it to your advantage? >> Stay informed about: Buffalo |

Yep. As bad as I thought it would be, and a good deal more...

I made this point a couple of years ago (well, it was Oct 23, 2003 if
you want to google the thread: "Ice at the tank"). If you are going
to field a fast, puck possession team (DW's words), and you have a guy
like Joe who can pass like he does, why wouldn't you want the best ice
in the NHL? Supposedly the Sharks included some new equipment in the
latest remodel of the tank, but its not enough. Based on many visits
to the tank, and some visits to other arenas, the simplest answer may
be to just turn down the heat. Let the fans wear coats...at least
they don't have to shovel the driveway when they get home... >> Stay informed about: Buffalo |

It's like having a great bunting team and manicuring the third-base
line so the balls roll foul. Makes no sense. >> Stay informed about: Buffalo |
