Hey Folks, I'm in Michigan, but I can pick up the CBC feed over the
air on channel 9
I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about a HD over the air feed in
the area?
I see on the CBC website that they only list a HD feed in Toronto.
any other info out there that might make my HNIC watching oh so much
better?
Dave
Don't say satellite or cable, I'm not paying for it. >> Stay informed about: CBC HD - Windsor Area |

I thought HD, by definition, was only available on digital cable or
satellite? I'm not a techno-geek so I'm not sure, but it seems to me
that's how it is.
And does cable/satellite in Michigan even offer the Canadian channels?!
I didn't think they did.

At least in the US, HD is broadcast over the air as well as the usual cable
and satellite options. Of course this is only for channels that broadcast
over the air in the first place.

Nah, you can get HD over the air, its the cheapest way to do it, the
thing is you need a HD tuner in your TV then. Read about the difference
between an HD "ready" tv/monitor and a HD TV with built in tuner. Most that
you see in the stores are HD "ready"
The signal over the air is better than the old format in that it is
stronger, and obviously the picture is much better.
course if you want you can pay for it in the form of sattelite or cable,
but why if its free.
For me, the only TV I watch is HNIC and Lost, so paying 40 -75 bucks a
month is silly.

I bought and own my HD reciever, so i pay no where close to 40 - 75 a month.
I did pay 300 for the box, but it was well worth it. It has already payed
for itself, i dont have to rent one. Then I pay 7.95 a month to Rogers and
pick up about 15 - 20 HD channels.. I dont know if you follow other
sports.. But the NFL in HD is awesome. All Blue Jays home games are in HD
now also.
CBC arent the ones that broadcast Leaf games in HD. Leaf games on TSN and
Sportsnet are also broadcast for the most part in HD. Finally, LeafsTV is
now included free if you have a digital cable box, and they broadcast their
games now in HD on channel 500.
I complain alot about Rogers, but never about shelling out another 8 bucks a
month for the HD channels, its well worth it. I get depressed now when
something im watching isnt available in HD.
Take Care.

That's different from me. Almost all of the Leafs games on CBC are in HD,
some of the TSN ones are HD just the national games and not regional, and
none of the Sportsnet games because they are all regional and there is no
Sportnet Ontario HD channel. >> Stay informed about: CBC HD - Windsor Area |

Tunnel, I'm not even paying for cable right now, all I have is the internet
and an antenna.
so, any cable or dish would be 40+ a month.
for 2 shows a month, its just not worth it.
I know what you mean about shows not in HD though. Its such a HUGE
difference.
I get the major US networks in HD and so I can watch the national games if I
want in HD. But, all I really want is to have a crisp clean puck on a white
sheet of ice that's as wide as my TV screen. Not a fuzzy black dot on a
small square screen that fills only 2/3rds of the screen

That was a typo. All CBC home games for canadian teams are in HD.
The line should have read:
"CBC arent the only ones that broadcast Leaf games in HD!"
Thats what you get when you work a 15 hour day, 5 days a week! :)
