I know what you're saying, however I really don't think that any real
hockey fan who's been watching the playoffs year after year would be
silly enough to propose that "luck" has anything to do with reaching the
SCF, other than having key players avoid injury. Having to fight through
a possible 21 games just to appear in the SCF eliminates any element of
luck coming into it.
Having said that, I think it's clear now to most fans that the SCF itself
is very different than the conference matches leading up to it. I
usually don't buy into conspiracy theories, however it seemed pretty
obvious to me that the regulations governing last season's SCF clearly
favoured the Ducks and the rule book up to that point went right out the
window. Personally, I found it mind-boggling. The only consolation is
that, at least now, we know what to expect if the Sens can make it back
to the final again.
