Only reading what I read in wikipedia, it sounds plausible that this
was directly related to his health condition. And that the only
performance-enhancement he might have got from it was relative to that
condition. Not that it's likely to be a very common manner of seeking
performance enhancement for other players, or something that is likely
to be going on with other players on any scale at all.
In which case, to me, it's more of a black eye on his hockey team than
anything else. It says they knew about his myocarditis (sp?). And
then that despite that knowledge, this was perhaps their way to keep
getting the young man out onto the ice for them and performing at an
elite level. Brutal.
Although I guess it's still all subject to the accuracy of the
diagnosis of his condition, and of this new finding. Which I guess
it's hard to be 100% confident in.
