better.

I don't hate the jerseys themselves, but the lettering on the back?
Pretty lame.

I didn't get to watch the 2nd & 3rd periods last night, but I thought
they looked pretty good in the first. One thing I noticed - it seems
our best defense is coming from the forwards. Any thoughts on the rest
of the game?

One more thing - win or lose, Claude's system is 100 X more interesting
to watch than anything Lewis did last season. Of course, interesting
doesn't get us a playoff spot.

Once the Ducks tied it in the second they took over both the momentum
and physical play. The rest of the way I was just waiting for Anaheim to go
ahead. The B's hustled but were easily out-muscled. On that Getzlaf goal
both Chara and Ward looked awful. Faceoffs were atrocious. They lost so many
so easily in their own zone that for a moment I thought Primeau was back.
Outworked in almost all the 1 on 1 battles, especially along the boards.
Thomas played well and Lucic layed out the best hit of the night.

So, not playing a complete 60 minute game. At least we're no stranger
to that phenomenon. Great...

I also only saw the first period, but I thought they looked pretty
good...even Thomas looked good!
Sorry Tony, couldn't resist! ;-) It was great to see them actually hitting
out there and Metropolit had some nice checks. I already like the guy.

Be glad you didn't see the third period Denise. This game made me appreciate
how much Savard means to the offense.

But in all fairness, while they let Anaheim dictate they still worked hard.
It wasn't like the snoozers they kept putting in last year. They were just
outmuscled in the last two periods. I doubt all teams can do that like
Anaheim.

Funny you mention that...I forgot Murray was on the team until I saw the
back of his jersey last night. And I'm not kidding.

It's still early...we still have plenty of time for those snoozers,
unfortunately. But I did enjoy what very little I saw last night. Man, I
hate these west coast game times even though I desperately want to see teams
other than the Canadiens and Maple Leafs.

About JJ's comments... - I just checked on the salary commitment of Ottawa and Buffalo... Ottawa spent about 200 thousand less than the Bruins. Buffalo spent about 1.5 million less. The average team salary was 41.7 million. The B's spent about 43.7. Only 11 teams spent..
