What position does he play?
Just kidding. Aebischer would've been a better call. But whatever. >> Stay informed about: Denis onboard |

If you could get Aebischer and lose that ridiculous St. Louis contract,
I imagine earth would move due to danding feet on that peninsula.
but that's over now. I have no clue what Bob Gainey is doing.
With my fascination with the TBay Lightning, perhaps I'm one step away
from joining you in support for this team.
Ugh. "Shudder". No thanks.
What on earth are they doing with those 3 expensive players. Mind

That's as good as it gets with jj. He probably thinks the Lightning should
have traded Lecavalier to the Habs for Zednik. $3.5million for Samsonov is
beyond ridiculous. >> Stay informed about: Denis onboard |

Dude you have got to give me more credit than Vinnie for Zednik

Here's a question. When TB won the cup in 04, they had a "win or don't play
here" mentality. Now with Denis, are the Lightning honestly thinking about
the Stanley Cup? Or just keeping their heads over the water? With Khabi,
they had a goalie that came thru with super-human expectations and at his
salary was well worth every cent. With Denis, yeah he was cheap and he's
"decent" but jesus, throwing him up there to be the #1 already?
I'd definantly have him as my backup, without a doubt. But being the next
Khabibulin and being counted on, I'm waiting to hear the next season's
slogan because a championship isn't much more than a dream with team today.
Not to sound harsh but having a "decent to good" team isn't the type of
mentality to take them deep again and I don't think there's much father-type
leadership in lockers to help Torts out.

What do you mean "already"? He has been the #1 in Columbus behind a piss
poor defense for the past several years, seen more rubber than Jeff Gannon
at the GOP national convention, yet posted respectable numbers. He is
definitely above average at this stage of his career.
>
> I'd definantly have him as my backup, without a doubt.
He is not a backup. He was traded to make room for a younger, cheaper guy
that Columbus believes will eventually be better. And they got a top 6 guy
in Modin, a desperate need for their Dungy-like (buc years) offense.
>But being the next Khabibulin and being counted on, I'm waiting to hear the

He is not the next Khabibulin, who, if he doesn't rebound from last years
putrid performance, will be the next John Grahame.

So what you're saying is that David Aebischer is NOT a #1 goalie? And that
Marc Denis is definantly? Okay. I don't have to bring up stats, or who did
he shadow during his first few years (God forbid he learned a thing or two),
or maybe Colorado's situation in goal. And who is "they" cus I never heard
a bad thing about him, in fact hopeful rumors about him coming to Tampa.
> Have you ever seen Denis play?
Yeah. And I'll say it again, he's DECENT. I feel like the old days when I
was slandered for liking Cloutier and boy, he got lost, didn't he? I hope I
eat my words, I really do, but he wasn't the netminder I had in mind,
ESPECIALLY for Modin! My GOD. Do u really think he's worth more than
Modin?

Richards isn't the captain anymore? hmmmm, maybe someone else saw it that
way I did. I think Richards IS the best on the team, but he's no Andreychuk
or Stevens.

Jeez, someone should tell Carolina that offsense didn't win them THAT
championship then! Or the Lightning in 04 when they scored to the top 3 in
the league. And if it weren't for ahaving a Khabibulin in goal, do u think
they would have won, seriously? we ALL watched that game. You think Denis
could've rivaled that? C'mon dude...

Aebisher was traded for Jose Theodore who was being ran out of MTL and was
injured at the time of the trade. Aebisher settled into the #2 slot in MTL
behind the immortal C Huet, just as he had in Colorado behind the stupendous
Peter Budaj.
The only hopeful rumors about Aebisher coming here I saw were from MTL fans
wanting him gone.

Richards never was the captain. He has never worn the A either. There is
speculation that he will be named captain before the season starts.

How did Edmonton make the finals. And Calgary against the Lightning? Did
the Lightning dominate with a highpowered offense in the playoffs or was it
team defense and goaltending? Carolina played pretty damn well on defense
too and got unexpectedly good goaltending.
Or the Lightning in 04 when they scored to the top 3 in

Khabibulin should have goten the Conn Smyth.

Who knows? Anyone before the season predict that Cam Ward would be the
starting goaltender for a Cup winning Canes team?

I'm not too sure I'd wanna agree with you that Aebischer was the backup in
Colorado. Well wait and see who gets it by de facto as I'd say they're at
the same level.
> You must trade a quality player with a salary approximately equivalent to
> make a trade happen. Did you think Alexeev would be acceptable?
We did have a draft pick, a few prospects, free agency, etc. I would've
liked to have gone that route seeing guys like Hedberg picked up.
> Richards never was the captain. He has never worn the A either. There
> is speculation that he will be named captain before the season starts.
That's what all these news articles on the net are saying about him.
captain this and that. Who was the Captain then? But I wouldn't want him as
the Captain, I don't think he has the grit I would expect. If he had
Vinny's balls (and I don't like to compliment LeCav very much) yeah I'd be
all about it but he doesn't.

We can back into a pissing match on this one. Who actually WON the Cups?
And why would these winning teams need defense is offense wasn't a factor?
It's the fundamentals of the game, score more goals that other team, you
win, not saves against or blocked shots. I can win against a team with just
10 shots all games, as long as my goalie stops all but 9 and all 10 of mine
go in. it's exagerated but just making my point more clear.
> Khabibulin should have goten the Conn Smyth.
I didn't think any clear cut member of the team deserved that award, it was
a team effort all around, noone cared who scored as long as they did. Khabi
definantly should've been considered, he might've been, as I've never seen a
Lightning goalie work so well with the guys in front. Always seemed to know
where to kick those pucks off to. That's a talent you don't see much.
> Who knows? Anyone before the season predict that Cam Ward would be the
> starting goaltender for a Cup winning Canes team?
Well that's why I'm hoping I eat my words about Denis. I want to see him be
that rookie-Patrick Lalime. But I wouldn't have put my money on him but I
guess I have to now.
