I live for this time of year. Everyone will get cranked up - and
there will be some good ol time fan hostility no doubt, but before it
all gets started tonight, just wanted to wellwish Lightning fans the
best. I know my team has gone 1-3 against your team and despite all
those pronosticators who seem to think you can win a game on
goaltending or even a goaltender's reputation alone, I have a lot of
respect for what your team brings to the table. Heck there's a few of
us over in the Devils ng in the past (when there was a divide between
Torts and Vinny) who've salvated over what it would be like LaCavalier
on our squad. Those 51 goals don't surprise us.
The team I root for went through a little upheaval with a few games
left in the regular season. Everyone has their take on it, but imho,
it was because despite the relative success they had in the standings,
they spent most of the time in their own zone depending on their
goaltender to bail them out and what offense they put together was
almost by accident.
Whether they can turn that around on a dime is the $64,000 question.
But whatever goes on, just wanted to tip the wine glass with you to
the best time of the year.
Game on. >> Stay informed about: From a Devils fan... |

Here's hoping for an exciting, injury-free series.

Apparently not...
I guess it's as good a time as any to also point out that it's
Lecavalier... :)
Not a bad game, if you guys continue to let Vinny & Marty score and we
get *any* kind of goaltending, it will be an interesting series! >> Stay informed about: From a Devils fan... |

Here's to a good series! I have a ton of respect for what the Devils have
done over the years, and I'd really like to have Broduer in a Bolts uni.

Certainly wouldn't hurt, but no defense can help when your goalie
doesn't cover the puck and hands it off to an opponent! :o) If Homer
had played decently, we win that game, IMO. Hopefully, first playoff
game jitters will be gone & he'll do better from here on. Sure hope so
'cause I'm not ready to see Ramo thrown in there! >> Stay informed about: From a Devils fan... |

For what it's worth I kinda agree with you guys. If Torts tightens up
on the D and the goaltending, the advantage may go to you guys. I do
want to point out, though, that a good part of the coaching change at
this late date had to do with too much keeping guys like Elias and
Gionta on a leash as well as an overabundance of linematching and so
that what O the Devils had spent most of the time on pine.
As some in our own ng pointed out, that fifth goal wouldn't have
happened a few weeks ago because four guys would've been back at the
red line. >> Stay informed about: From a Devils fan... |

Sometimes, all it takes is a little tweak here or there, or just the
slightest change in philosophy to turn a really good team into a great one,
Looks like the Devils are on the right track, I just hope Torterella, who I
think by the way, is playing with fire, knows what he's doing.. Having a
rookie net minder as the back-up in the playoffs is one thing, but calling
him up late in the season, and just leaving him on the bench prior to the
start of the playoffs, is quite another. >> Stay informed about: From a Devils fan... |

You won't need him. Your goalie got his mojo goin' and the Devils
can't contain Vinny or Mr. St Louis. The Devils are also playing
three lines and they are beginning to tire out.
Like I said earlier, tighten the goaltending and defense and it's
Tampa Bay's series to lose. Don't forget, Tampa Bay went 3-1 with the
Devils in the regular season. And while you can generally throw that
stuff out with the playoffs, I don't think Tampa fears the Devils at
all. Half of losing to Brodeur is playing like you can't score. I
don't see Tampa feelin' that. >> Stay informed about: From a Devils fan... |
