Jeezus, the picture quality on the Montreal/Carolina game is so bad I
can barely make out the players numbers. I have a new HR-20 DVR and a
flat screen tv, yet it looks like old footage from the seventies.
What a rip-off.

Is that an SD or HD broadcast? RDS went HD today just in time for
tonight's game and will broadcast every Habs game in HD.

Is a SD broadcast. No hi-def feed to be found on DTV. It looks real
bad. My old VHS camcorder has better quality.

It must have had something to do with the fact that it was only
broadcast in HD, and was downscaled to SD or something. It was just
as bad on cable as it apparently was on satellite.

No. Downconverted Hd looks even better that standard SD. Definately a
problem with the Montreal feed.
Montreal should have never knocked down The Montreal Forum. They've
been cursed ever since.

The problem is that they don't always get to pick where the feed comes
from. In some cases they get an overly compressed signal and then have
to compress it again.

You already know the result. I see the same thing on Bell. Some of the
CI feeds look okay while others are so washed out you can barely watch them.

Like I said earier, the RDS feed on Bell looked pretty good.

You can't show a game in high-def AND have it broadcast in French at
the same time. It's impossible.

New technology. It's hard to imagine anything better.

No HD On DirecTV tonight? - It's on a NHL-HD channel, but I don't see a little "HD" graphic next to it in the guide.

NHL Center Ice? - Anyone hear anything about Cablevision having trouble getting a deal done. Timmy

Anaheim in 6, Ottawa in 6 - And the Ducks take home the Cup.

How was that any different.... - How was that waved-off goal in Buffalo any different than the one in game 1 against the Rangers? Why did that one count, and this one didn't? By the way, VS. is absolutely terrible. Joe Beninati? Why don't they just get Rick Jeanerette or some other....

Scary good - More "scary" than "good".
