Of course I can explain it to you, however it would require me to start
teaching you at about the grade 2 math level. It's much more
entertaining letting others in this NG school you, which is of course
part of the reason why I come here.

Why don't you accept that the Av's lead the division ? The standings
are based on points and if it's tied then goals, since Colorado is
better at scoring goals they are in 1st, even if Calgary have a better
win % Who cares ? and they just lost tonight. Minn also lost.

I fully understand your argument. You're just wrong though.

The NBA is calculated based on win percentage, and if this were
calculated that way, then Calgary would lead the division. It's not and
they don't. Colorado leads. Calgary has a better win percentage, and if
they continue on the same pace, then they *will* win lead the division.
But lots of things can happen to change that, while nothing at all can
change the fact that Colorado, today, leads the division. Period.

The next time I am schooled in this or any other newsgroup will be the
first time it has ever happened.

No argument here, but it doesn't change the fact that they were
statistically in first place at the break.

Hey Uncle Thomas, haven't read a "Gainey is an idiot" story here in a
while.
Can you tell us one. And how's that goalie trade working for your
last place Avs.

Wrong again Thomas. Northeast is the best (by far) with each team on
average projecting out to 100 points. Northwest is on pace for an
average of 86 points, making it the 5th best - only the Atlantic is
worse.

So, according to NHL.com the Avs are in last place in the 2nd worst
division. Is that what you meant to say?

Suddenly Joel Quenneville doesn't know what he's doing.
There's a saying in hockey - show me a good coach and I'll show you a
good goaltender.

When the Avs find one, they'll be good.

Sure.

Gainey is a complete imbecile for signing Aebischer after making the
trade to clear the cap room.

The Avs are two points out of first place in the toughest division in
the NHL (by far) as I write this. The trade has been just fine.

Goaltending isn't the reason the Avs have a .500 record. Coaching is.

They are by far the most evenly matched and/or inconsistent division, to
claim they are the toughest (by far) is just absurd. Only Calgary has a
winning record against the PAC, and only 3 can show a winning record
against the lowly CEN.

At the end of the season they match.

But it's not the end of the season.

What's sudden about it?

They need both. But a good coach would do, while a good goaltender would
be a waste.

Of course you were. You're a legend in your own mind. To everybody else
you're just a clown.

That I didn't ask which you would rather have at the end of the
