What's Downie going to be?

I haven't been able to see any preseason games, just the highlights.

So what's Downie going to be? Sure he fights well for a little guy, but
he's simply too small to be our brawler. Is he going to be a scorer or some
sort of checking line guy? Does he have those skills? Or is he basically
going to be an agitator, like Jarko Ruutu or something?

Do guys like Downie and Eager just give up on the promise they once
supposedly had?
