Post subject: FIH President (Int Hockey Fed) indirectly admits to fallacy.

Dear RSC Indian Field Hockey Fans and others on the hockey newsgroup:

Did any of you see the recent statements of the FIH president whilst
promoting the FIH Field Hockey World Cup-2010 in New Delhi India.
She is literally on her hands and knees begging for India to rescue
the sport which is now facing axing from the Olympics...

BLATANT HYPOCRISY:

Looking at her statement (and this makes one very angry) and I quote
her:

"About time we got our act together. India is one of the main reasons
we have managed to hang in there so far but there's waning TV interest
coupled with the fact that bidders for future Olympic Games are
reluctant to spend extra cash for artificial hockey pitches -- it is
time we made the game a marketing success," she added.

In response one could reply to this garbage..
If host olympic nations do not have the money for artificial hockey
turf- WHY THE HELL THEN IS THE FIH NOT SWITCHING BACK TO GRASS!!!!
WHY??? Why can't FIH make the game more accessible to poorer countries
so that the game really becomes global aka soccer.

After murdering India's artistic game and making it into a ridiculous
power game and moreover very expensive (thanks to the turf) , she has
got the gall to beg India to rescue the game...

And what are the Indian Hockey Fed (IHF) bosses doing here. Can't
they not dictate terms to bring back grass..

Here's another deal for the FIH:

If the FIH is so hell bent on preserving their Astro-turf status quo,
here's a deal: Let's get to the bottom line where the almighty $$$
holds sway in everything, esp these days.

Would the FIH be able to sponsor the laying of International quality
astros all over India and even the poorer countries of the
Subcontinent like Bangladesh, Nepal, SL, and even Pakistan so that any
tom dick and harry, ordinary joe citizen young man can walk in and try
his skills at becoming a quality hockey player... Does the FIH have
the cash??? or for that matter the IHF?

Why are all these people in mighty officialdom wasting their time
talking about this and that when the very Olympic future of India's
national game is at stake???

If the FIH wants to ratify hockey as an Olympic sport, what are its
strategies hockey's international expansion in poorer countries, of
say Africa, who have absolutely no money for the turf??? Will the
FIH sponsor them for goodness sake???

Is this not where soccer beats hockey big big big time... Thank God
soccer is not being played on a ridiculous turf.. else the world would
have robbed of seeing superstars from the likes of Ghana, Cameroon,
Nigeria, and even poorer Latin American countries... Thank God the
FIFA bosses have so far resisted the idea of introducing turf for
soccer. Thank God!!!!

Dear friends: Sorry for my outbursts... I just can't bottle my temper
at all this injustice..

Besides, in these days of envinronmental consciousness and global
warming... THE CARBON FOOTPRINT OF GRASS IS NEGLIGABLE COMPARED TO THE
LAYING AND UPKEEPING OF THE TURF!!!

A Profoundly disgusted Indian hockey fan:

For the FIH President's Statement Ps c

David Singh:

Alas David, that is my style whether u like it or not.
Of course u reserve the right to hate uppercase as
much as my neutral feelings for this..

To come back to the main point?

How else can one potray outrage and a profound sense of injustice when
the FIH president herself admits to a long term
policy gaffe, whose repurcussions India and Pakistan hockey
have faced unjustly for decades???
