They do have to play four games, minimum, don't they?
The best thing they could do with this series, apparently, is
institute one of those modern "pc" little-league rules, where if
somebody falls behind by too many runs, they just call the game. So,
far, it's that bad.
Well, now we don't have to feel so bad about whether San Jose made it
past Dallas, even though they should have. Detroit is just in a whole
different class than other teams this year. >> Stay informed about: Finals |

Yep SJ would have really been embarrassed.
My comments:
Refs: A bad game here and there, but they did a pretty good job this
year. What I don't like is that I got the feeling that they tailored
the calls to how they were selling the series. If it was billed as a
war, they swallowed the whistles. If they wanted skill guys to shine,
they called everything. Totally different rules. And the finals fall
into the latter, they are calling way too many penalties.
Pens: Despite too many calls, they are in fact taking way too many
obvious, stupid penalties. As if their task wasn't hard enough. They
haven't lost a home game since Feb, I believe, so they better get some
healing in Pitt.
Kronwall and dominance: Kronwall is a monster out there. What's most
incredible about Kronwall is not Kronwall, it's the fact that Detroit
is so dominant that they can afford to have a D take runs at guys
every time the other team breaks out of their zone. He takes himself
completely out of the play, but it doesn't matter when your team D is
that good. >> Stay informed about: Finals |

When you combine complete puck possession with having the other guys
looking over their shoulders when they get near it, you win lots of
hockey games. >> Stay informed about: Finals |

Imagine what Murray would be like playing the Kronwall style! >> Stay informed about: Finals |

I am not surprised that Detroit has won 2 games, but I am
surprised at how dominant they have been. In the earlier rounds the
Pens were skating rings around their opponents. While it would be
surprising to see them do the same to the Red Wings, it is surprising
to see them held scoreless.
Not that he distinguished himself in the playoffs, but is there
any Sharks' defenseman other than Campbell who could displace any of
the Detroit defensemen? Maybe Rivet, but that wouldn't be a certainty. >> Stay informed about: Finals |

Good point. Put another way, Chelios was scratched the first two games. He'd
easily play 15 minutes or more for the Sharks. Maybe even top 4 minutes. >> Stay informed about: Finals |

Whoa whoa whoa, everybody take a deep breath with the Detroit worship.
First of all, I thought this would be a home team is nearly impossible
to beat series, and I haven't counted out the Pens.
But to get back on topic, as I've said before, everyone looks twice as
good playing for a dominant team like the Wings. Of course Lindstrom
is awesome. Ralfaski isn't chopped liver either. But beyond that,
let's not get carried away.
Put Vlasic, or even Murray or Ehrhoff out on a completely dominating
team, with 2 Selke caliber forwards for Pete's sake, and they would
start to look pretty good. >> Stay informed about: Finals |
