I would doubt that, considering the cap space.
Maybe, if they would sign him at the end of the year for a small
amount.

And just who are they dumping in salary? I figure you'd need to move about
$4-mil to afford the price this over-inflated ego is asking to sign on to a
team with no guarantees that the body will even hold up for longer than a
few games, especially those ankles. Sure I'd love to have Forsberg as the
play-making centre on the #1 or #2 line - but I think the asking price for
"damaged goods" may be too much for this team to just throw away. NOW ...
that being said ... I'd be open to incentives! Kind of a pay-per-game thing
where the more games he plays the better he gets paid up to his asking price
for all 60-70 games left in the season depending on when he gets back from
his sabatical in Europe.

BTW ... friend is i before e ;)

Murray came out and said it's 3 million for one year if he wants to
come and play in Ottawa... That is it and that is all... My guess is
he will go for it.
The reason obviously is because Murray still has to sign Spezza and
few others.
I think it's a great idea... It would be great to have him here but
even if we don''t i think we have still a great team as it is...

I'd be happy to get Forsberg in January and pay him $3M this year and $5 for
next year. Trouble is, he's looking for a 3 year deal. I don't think
that's going to work for Ottawa - too much risk in his health not holding up
for the duration. I'd put the odds of Forsberg becoming a Senator at 60%
right now. Colorado is his other choice.

This would be a huge mistake for this team. Centres are not an issue,
we have too many of them as it is. He deffinatly wants term and
consider the following. Which of these players are you willing to
lose. Vermette, Kelly or Spezza because they will get raises next
year, heck a pile of teams would pay those guys 4 + millions easily
just for what they bring to the penalty kill. They are irreplacable
and there are too many desperate teams looking for talent in this
undertalented league. Don't forget that there are hockey teams all
over Russia and Europe who are starting to make it and the sport is
taking off thus cutting down our supply of players. If the talent was
available there would be many more teams contending for the cup than
the three or four actually making noise this year.
