You gotta love the schedule makers. They always serve up an easy team for
Ottawa to play in the opener:-)

I didn't see any pre-season games, but this probably looked like. Not much
flow or great finishing.

I thought Gerber looked very solid (except his rebound control and catching
hand is still not #1 goalie calibre). His positional play was great, it's
obvious he's been working on moving laterally in the offseason and overall,
he seemed to have more confidence than in most games last year.

Funny to see Redden get into 2 dust-ups. If he's going to become a brawler,
he's going to have to lose the face shield.

Donovan missed a can of corn in the third period. I'm guessing we'll see a
lot of those this year.

Not much to say about Foligno, but he didn't embarrass himself or look
entirely out of place.

Good for Heatley - I love the way he beats up on the Leafs.

I won't be able to watch Game 2 tonight, but I'm thinking Ottawa should beat
them in regulation tonight - especially if they start Toskala.
