Are ruining the game again. How on earth could four officials, eight
eyes miss the Kovalev elbow to Hollweg's head. If they had called it
nothing else would have happened. Again they had their heads so far up
their collective backsides they could not do their job. It looks like
Bertuzzi Moore all over again. Will Gary's top dog Colie throw the book
at Hollweg, you bet? Will Colie throw the book at Kovalev? Not bloody
likely. And he should they are trying to stop the hits to the head AND
they for some inexplicable reason missed.

The same thing on the penalty shot. He got the shot off before the play

Let's not cut Hollweg too much slack. That was an incredibly dumb
penalty to take at an incredibly bad time to take one. And having
scrambled brains wasn't an a good excuse for NHL fugitive Simon and it
shouldn't be for Ryan.
Of course Renney could have kept him out awhile to cool his jets and
of course the missed elbow was an atrocity. But the buck stops with
Ryan. >> Stay informed about: Gary's boys |

The going rate is a deep discount. Hollweg should get 10 games. And
Kovalev should get at least a one-game suspension, as well. Maybe the
officials should get the sum of their two suspensions for missing that
blatant elbow.

They don't really consider if the player got a shot off, anymore.
Instead, the call is that the player's BEST attempt at scoring was
negated, and thus, the penalty shot. >> Stay informed about: Gary's boys |

I'm not going to cut him too much slack but I do have to cut him some slack.
It was really stupid to let him out onto the ice at that point... ESPECIALLY
considering that they were talking to him and they could see his reaction
and demeanor on the bench. Really dumb given the type of player Hollweg is
and the type of dumb penalties he has taken in the past. And then the non
call was simply criminal. You can't ignore it. But the bottom line is that
nobody's going to miss the lug for the next couple games. Win win win. >> Stay informed about: Gary's boys |

One thing that impressed me about Renney was that he called out
Kovalev in his on-ice interview after the game. I really didn't think
Renney would ever do that. Good for him. >> Stay informed about: Gary's boys |

Exactly. You have to know your personnel. I think the point is that
Renney's not blameless, not that he bears full responsibility.

they saw the little tap on the arm that led to the penalty shot,
though. >> Stay informed about: Gary's boys |

Good point. Again, Bettman and his staff are destroying the game through
incompetence. Yuck. I wish we could get a Junior A team here, if we did
I'd never bother with the NHL game.

They should be sent to the AHL for a few games. There's probably a
ref or two down there that could fill. Maybe even do a better job. >> Stay informed about: Gary's boys |

Yeah, but he did it in that very nice likable Renney sort of way. >> Stay informed about: Gary's boys |
