That period had to be at least a little entertaining for kovy.

As moronic as the Orr call was, I'll definitely concede that the
penalties that lead to the Rangers 2nd and 3rd goal were pretty bad.
Not fabricated in the same way, just incorrect. Neither of them
should have been made.

Regardless, it's good to see them score on the power play once in a
while.

Gomez was fantastic tonight. If he gets a point on Saturday it'll be
his longest point streak of his career. Imagine somebody actually
setting a personal record while ON the Rangers. He really propped
Jagr up on his back tonight. Anything that gets Jagr scoring is
nice. That backhander was an incredible shot.

Lundqvist was fantastic at the end of the game. That blocker save
will be on highlight reels.

Avery did a fantastic job tonight.

I'm really impressed with that third period, because I 100% expected
them to roll over after the major->kill->minor->goal fiasco in the
second.

Maybe this is something to build on?

The thing is that I'm going to keep watching them all season long, and
I really need a glimmer of hope now and then. I truly thought they
had given up after the second, and I was pleasantly surprised in the
result.

That's been their problem all season long. I think it's a mental
thing, because Avery doesn't really do enough to make such a
difference in my mind.

We all do. WE ALL DO.

Maybe you missed it but Shanahan hit a post in the first period.
That's called leadership.

Maybe I'm in a bad mood but I just have no enthusiasm at all. Something to
build on? I've heard that so many times already from Trautface over the last
couple months in every interview after a single win that it just isn't
something I can even bother with.

What can I say. They got lucky on a couple bad calls and scored a couple
goals. Then on the final sequence, Lundqvist got lucky that the first
Whitney shot hit his stick and deflected away. Carolina hit a few posts. The
Rangers played some awful hockey before that 3rd period. I just can't get
excited about it. All I can do is watch and hope they start playing well at
some point before it's too late. As it stand they stink.

The one positive (or semi-positive) is that Avery once again shows that his
game is virtually the only thing on this earth that can get his team to play
with any energy or passion or anything other than gutless pathetic hockey.
And the reason that it's a semi-positive is that if they depend so much on
one player to give them any kind of spirit out there... when they have so
many "leaders"... I don't know what to think about it.

I really hope the third period not only gives them something to build on but
that they ACTUALLY do build on it.

BTW- the final minute was actual an NHL record... the most amount of
"intangibles" ever to be in the penalty box simultaneously to put your team
down 3 men. Shivers down my freaking spine...

about this, and I have to admit I think this should be a suspendable
offense. I doubt it'll happen, but he deserves a one-game suspension.

They just need time to gel.

Yeah yeah, I know.

Remember the Minnesota game? The Rangers got completely shafted by
the officials in the second period. They fell apart, came out in the
third, and rolled over to the Wild. It was one of the more cowardly
periods I've seen them play.

That's what I expected tonight in the third. Carolina had the
momentum, the Rangers were upset over a terrible call by the official,
and it would have been easy for them to mail in the last period and go
home to their lofty mansions.

Instead, they actually came out and won the game for themselves. I
know it's not indicative of a future trend, but maybe it's a feeling
they'll start to like.

As will the one he made right before with the handle of the goalstick.

Also, his actually SHOOTING THE PUCK led to two goals.

It's a simple concept-- shoot the puck, go to the net.

When do that, we get tonight's third period. When we don't, we get tonight's
first two periods.

3-2 in the third I was almost banking on OT the way things have been going.
Even up 4-2 I was worried after they took those penalties, 6 on 3 at the
end.

shhhhhhhhh. Thats what I thought after they won @ Ottawa, then they went in
the tank.
Actually if the Gomez line keeps going and they get ANY scoring from the
other lines they should be OK.

Great timing - So are the Thrashers going to come out steaming for their new coach? I'm sure our incredibly potent offense will be able to hang with them as long as the Thrashers don't score more than 1 goal... but after that, I'd think we might be in trouble.

Rangers were great - In Garbage time that is. Only seen the last period. Was Lundqvist weak tonight? Not that he has been the major problem so far but it seems most every goal against him this year has been top shelf. That certainly is his weakness.

Great Game!! - Sometimes this team puts crazy ideas in my head. Screw the gimmick shootout, I would have been satisfied with a tie. The boys are playing good hockey. Timmy

What a great league - Five minute major for hitting a guy.

Anaheim in 6, Ottawa in 6 - And the Ducks take home the Cup.
