George Patton, despite his success as a general, was not a
particularly intelligent (or quotable) man. My cousin is/was one of
the 6,000, and I'll mourn his loss every day for the rest of my life.
I'm neither foolish nor wrong in doing this, but I can certainly
understand the general's appreciation to his god - he did, after all,
make his living leading young men to their deaths.....
