That's what happens when you have a goalie behind you to bail you
out. ;) Hatch trimmed down this season too, yes? It seems to be
helping him.

He's faster than I ever remember. Also, the work on the OT goal was a
thing of beauty. Hatcher probably realized he needed to be faster to
stay in the league. While he still isn't a speedster, he seems to be
doing a good job. Biron's been great, but it seems like a lot of the
opponent shots are like Flyer ones I remember in the past -- right
into the middle of the goaltender.

Should we trade now? ATL needs defence.

I mentioned that the other day in here. He is a new man this season. His
first step from a stationary position seems 5x quicker than last year, which
is huge for a SAH d-man.

Like I have been saying for the last 2 years...if you limit Hatcher's
minutes to 20/game, put him on the ice with someone who can move the
puck, and don't waste him on the PP, he can still be effective. Hitch
didn't seem to get that (funny considering the Dallas thing), and
Stevens played him all the time last year out of necessity (of sorts).
Bringing in Timonen and Smith has helped ease the burden.

Speaking of Smith, I haven't seen much of him during his career. He
had a fight during the devils game that was one of the ugliest fights
I've ever seen in all the years I've been watching hockey. Both guys
were terrible. Is Smith always that bad at fighting? It looked like a
boxing match in the Special Olypmics. I actually checked to see if
they were licking the glass in the penalty box after the fight.
