Did we ever lose a game by 5 goals this year? Or the Rangers? Or any
team in the league? The Canucks don't have Luongo back yet either,
who is still their best player, including Sundin. I like Vancouver's
chances of being very successful this season, anyway. With Detroit
and San Jose in the conference, it's hard to like any other team's
chances of getting to the finals, but anyway, Vancouver looks like a
good team, and Sundin will only make them better.

Better... yes.
A contender?
Only because of Luongo.
And with that you never know. A goaltender can win series. A
goaltender can win Cups. With Matts scoring OT goals.. who knows...
I would love to see a VAN-MTL Cup final. Imagine the reception Matts
would get at the Bell Center....?
I would make the serenade Chara gets sound like a Church hymn.

You see, now they only have to wait for Mats to do it all for them.
You can not deny that Vancouver was the best alternative from all the
teams that had enough cap space for him and where he would not have to
kick anybody out of the roster.

True enough - but Mats did that to himself by waiting so long. Only teams
with cap room left are bottom feeders and Vancouver. He could have joined
the Habs, Rangers, Flyers, etc, all he had to do was make up his mind
sooner.

If he was really concerned about someone being kicked off the roster,
he would have signed with a team during the off-season, before a team
had filled out their roster spots. The Canucks may not need to clear
Cap space, they still need to clear a roster spot. Rangers needed to
dump a top end player to free up Cap space and a roster spot. The
Canucks can just fire someone down to the minors >> Stay informed about: Hey Mats were ya watching? |

Sundin has been involved in professional hockey for how long? Part of
the nature of the business, players come and go. The only way I see
Sundin being concerned about a departing player, could have been if he
thought the departure of a certain player would hurt the team's
chances at winning the cup and work against his alleged intention to
sign with a cup contender. To sign with a strong team to augment their
strength, not to have them make a player move that would weaken the
gain from his signing. >> Stay informed about: Hey Mats were ya watching? |

He could not choose a team before he knew if he wants and is ready to
play. He took the risk of loosing some of his options, but I have not
heard him complaining, so why should we?

Unless he was wearing a Leafs or Bruins jersey. Then we get to laugh our

I must have missed that, because when I was young, nobody in the
neighbourhood were wearing Leafs or Bruins jerseys. We were also told
that it is rude to pick on kids smaller or inferior to you, so I have
always just felt sorry for the Leafs and Bruins.
By the way the Bruins had some succes with an old Canadiens defenceman
Tom Johnson as a coach and now I am a bit worried that Claude Julien is
too good coach for them.

When he did not know if he plays or not, the question of kicking
somebody out of his job was not relevant. Now when he decided to play,
this question become relevant.

Wow, that's a cheap shot. The Canucks played the night before, headed to
the airport around 10:30, and sat there for hours because of weather -
related de-icing probs. Couldn't land in SJ because it was after 11:30pm,
drove from Oakland and got into their hotel rooms at 5 in the morning.
Combine that with Luongo being out and a kid in net who has played a total
47 pro games in the minors, and was playing his 7th game in the nhl, and
SJ was sitting at home for 3 days waiting --- no one was surprised the
Canucks were ripe to get their asses handed to them on a plate.
Detroit sat at home for 3 days waiting for SJ, who played the night
before, and spanked them 6-0. I guess using your logic SJ has no
shot at the cup eh ?
