Greetings scumbags, haven't been here in a while but I thought I'd
give my 2 cents on the season so far.
After watching the first 2 games, I thought : they miss the scoring of
those 2 guys that left in the offseason. But in reality, they forgot
how to play defence against the Islanders and they're still missing
toughness they needed last year. Do they miss the scoring of those two
guys ? I suppose, a little bit.
One way to improve this team is to do what Ottawa did last season. I
remember reading an article after beating Ottawa out of the playoffs
two years ago. Alfreddson said they changed from being offensvie-
minded to a defence-first type of team after that playoff loss. Maybe
our favorite team should do what Ottawa did. Ottawa made the finals
with this change. Of course, they weren't as tough as the Ducks
though, soooooooo .....
Regarding toughness, yeah, it's been MIA for 2, 3 years now. The other
night, I saw Adam Mair NOT lay someone out who was just waiting to get
nailed. What the hell ? This team needs a serious dose of Kaleta.
Lindy should bench someone and play Kaleta. And he should keep using
Kaleta in this fasion. You play like a pussies, someone gets benched
for a real hitter like Kaleta.
So, in my opinion, this team needs to abandon the run and gun offence,
play better defence, and HIT SOMEONE.
It wouldn't hurt to sign Markov to a contract either. That guy is
freakin nasty.
One more thing. Lindy's lines are shitty. Since I'm smarter than
Lindy, here's what I'd do for lines :
Roy, Vanek, Stafford (Staff seems like a better fit here then Max)
Connolly, Afinogenov, Pomminville (imagine Timmy setting up these 2
guys ? wow)
Hecht, Kotalik, Paille (not sure about this line, seems kinda boring-
maybe they can be the checking line)
Gaustad, Mair, Kaleta (i LOVE this banger/energy line)
As you'll notice, there's no Mike Ryan or Andrew Peters in my lineup.
Ryan is useless, and if he's useless, I can't come up with a word for
what Peters is. He's robbing the team of a paycheck. That's it ! He's
a thief !

I watched the 2nd game against the Islanders, and it's very possible that
Sabres fans could be in for a long season. Particularly worrying to me was
the frequencey that Peters seemed to be on the ice. It's pretty clear that
the "do nothing" off-season strategy employed by Sabres management isn't
going to keep them at the same level as last year, let alone help them take
the next step.
