How was that any different.... - How was that waved-off goal in Buffalo any different than the one in game 1 against the Rangers? Why did that one count, and this one didn't? By the way, VS. is terrible. Joe Beninati? Why don't they just get Rick or some other..

Scary good - More than

Team +/- leader? - NY Rangers website lists top player for 06-07 season was ... Marek Malik??? How the hell is that possible? Is it simply that he played most often with the top scoring line. Hopefully those in charge will look beyond the stat ... PLEASE?

Yes, you heard it here first. An impressive win by the Rangers. What
does it mean, who the hell knows. But at least it feels good today!!

Forgot to mention the Montreal Europeans folding like a cheap suit
again. If you watch enough of their games, you'll see it's a pattern.
Too many Euros, not enough North American toughness.

I'm as fast as anyone to get down on the team, but man that was an
impressive comeback.

I would have never, ever, ever expected that team to be down by 3, be
getting physically pounded, and stil have the ability to not only come
back to tie, but to score 5 unanswered goals.

Dubinsky is really turning into a great contributer this year. How
many guys on this team could get a shot like that in the net?

It's the most impressive thing they've done all season. It's definitely the
most encouraging thing I've seen out of this lot to this point.

Dubinsky and Dawes... showing something.

PS- I don't think anybody is going to miss Hollweg for the next couple
games.

Huge win, helped us big in the standings and a great effort. After
being down by 3 I really counted them out - in fact the pre-all star
break Rangers would have packed up and headed for NY but hopefully this
is a "new" team we are seeing since then.

A happy flight home for sure.

I'm impressed that a) the Rangers came back, and b) they didn't fold
after the Hollweg major. But you know how you often hear how the better
team won (or didn't)? Today, I think the better team had the day off.

The pass by Dawes to Drury was sweet.

I would've been really pissed if Montreal scored on that major penalty on
Hollweg after climbing out of a 3-0 hole.

Um, they don't need to play hard against lesser opponents.

I predict a virtual "night off" and an easy win. 9-0.

Rangers hockey!

Dawes has been showing some exceptional vision. He's playing some smart
hockey these days. One asset he has that helps overcome some of his
deficiencies is that he makes plays with the puck VERY fast. it doesn't take
him long to pull the trigger on a shot or a pass. He's showing a lot more
promise as he acclimates to NHL quickness.

I was very nervous about that. The Montreal minor helped big time though.

Lou, Lou, Lou,

Don't go there Lou! Resist the dark side!!Three big wins on the road
- all against teams in playoff position. Now they're coming home to a
packed and fired up MSG against a cellar dweller.

I can see it now! We'll be throwing stuff through the tv. :-)

What concerns me, other than allowing three unanswered goals to start
the game, is the lack of punishment the Rangers showed. (Sorry, Rag$$.)

One example: When Evil Lawn Gisland native Komisarek was roughing up
Jagr in the corner (cleanly, and very well), a player skated right by
without pounding Komisarek. (I don't recall who it was.) It would have
been a clean hit, he could have even planned the hit to avoid Jagr, and
yet he skated right on by, away from the puck and Jagr, who didn't have
the puck yet and would not have been in a position to put the puck
behind him anyway.

The other pseudo-example I have is not punishing Kovalev. You mean to
tell me that nobody had a chance in over 25 minutes of play to line him
up and cream him? I would even have turned a blind eye if Hollweg had
creamed Kovalev into the boards instead of a different player (though he
should still be suspended), and would have tolerated a different player
getting at least a minor to go after Kovalev.

Of course, E.J. Hradek had to jinx the Rangers:

http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=hradek_ej&action=login...pRedire

I just hope Melrose gets down on them to counter the Hradek jinx.

That depends... what do you mean by "cream him"?
