Islanders hire Gordon
Posted by Kevin Paul Dupont, Globe Staff August 12, 2008 08:26 PM
Scott Gordon, Boston’s top coach in Providence (AHL) the past five seasons,
has been named the new coach of the New York Islanders.
The 45-year-old ex-Boston College goalie was among a long list of
candidates, including ex-Bruins coach Mike Sullivan, interviewed for the job
by Islanders general manager Garth Snow. Over the weekend, it was widely
reported that Snow narrowed his search list to include Gordon, ex-Maple
Leafs coach Paul Maurice, and ex-Thrashers bench boss Bob Hartley.
‘‘I just found the coach that’s the right coach for our organization,’’ Snow
told Newsday. ‘‘Scott Gordon really stood out.’’
Snow, entering his third season as Islander GM, severed ties with coach Ted
Nolan July 14. >> Stay informed about: Islanders Hire Gordon |

It will be alot easier for Garth Snow to meddle with the team with Scott
Gordon as the head coach rather then Tortarella, Maurice or Hartley.
The Islanders just got worse!
Tunnel.
