I just checked on the salary commitment of Ottawa and Buffalo...

Ottawa spent about 200 thousand less than the Bruins. Buffalo spent
about 1.5 million less. The average team salary was 41.7 million. The
B's spent about 43.7.

Only 11 teams spent less than the average. The Rangers were the 12th
lowest. The difference between the Rangers and the Sharks (highest
payroll) was about 3 million bucks.

Of the 11 teams that spent under the average, 3 made the playoffs. One
was an 8 seed.

JJ is blowing smoke if he thinks this is about money. Its about having
a piss poor front office (yet again) with no plan or clue about how to
build a team in the new NHL.

yup too. The last couple of moves (Fernandez/not picking Chernepov) just
means he is palying it safe but no real thought process
