Sounds like it was already known around the league that he was going
there if the Rangers didn't step up, which is perhaps why Gainey
dismissed the notion. Who can blame Jagr if that money is as big as
they were saying before.

How much did he get?? I didn't see it in the article.

Local and international media are reporting that Jagr will be paid $35
million for 2 years. There is also reportedly an option for a third season.

I'm not sure how someone can say he's not worth that much in a league
outside the NHL. He may be worth 10x that to the entire league if it gives
them the exposure they want.

Again I ask, what the different between maybe $60 million in career
earnings to $70-$75 million? $15 million is a fortune to you and me, it
gets lost in the shuffle for them.

That's sounds a bit like the North American soccer leagues signing the
like of Pele, George Best, Beckham and current rumours of Ronaldhino.
