lots of comments about these guys getting traded...

Jurcina was
+/- Bos -5 vs. Wash +5
Pts Bos 40 games 3 points vs. Wash 30 games 9 points
Minutes per game Bos 10.42 Wash 23/24 mins per game

Boyes....not too many games with St. Louis but was + 1 and was -18 with the
B's

Stupid/stupid trades...why would PC listen to Lewis about these guys and
trade them for basically nothing? Why give Lewis a vote of confidence and
then fire Lewis Oh and I still hate the Fernandez trade....jeez

I dont care if Lewis told PC that neither could play they were slow as
gorillas on skates or any other such thing. It's his responsibility as
a GM to GM and a coaches to coach and he has to seperate the two. He
can "consider" input from a coach but not base trades solely on it. To
pin that on Lewis is wrong. To say he was a bad coach well that's a
different issue.

I must admit, I wasn't disappointed when Boyes was traded. I thought
he was
horrible for B's last season. Little effort offensively, none
defensively. Maybe he
will mature, but this wasn't his first stop. For a first round pick he
sure has been
moved a lot. He's just 25 and he's on his 4th oranization.

Technically Boyes is on his 3rd organization since Boston is really
just a plain disorganization.

Oates was no Neely, but he was no Janney either.

Oates wasn't physical cuz he didn't NEED to be.
Janney wasn't physical cuz he didn't WANT to be.

Schmautz? He was pretty small but he was hardly soft. He was Don
Cherry's favourite player when he coached the Bruins.

cordially, as always,

Bobby Schmautz was much in the Johnnie McKenzie mold. His specialty
was a
huge slapshot coming down the right wing, head-high at the goalie on
his first shift.
Then he'd skate by the crease, smiling. Looked a little like Gianni on
"Everybody loves
Raymond". Small, not soft at all.

Agreed. But he still made little contact, whatever the reason.

The softest player I think I have ever seen in a Bruin's jersey is
Chistov. He is the second coming of Inge Hammarstrom. For those of you
who dont remember Inge, he was one of the first Swedes to come to the
NHL, started in Toronto in 1973. The Toronto general manager at the
time (dont remember who) said of him, if went to corner after the puck
with eggs in his uniform, none of them would get broken.

Hmmm... when I first heard that story (slight variation -- a dozen eggs
under each arm) it was said to be Cherry's description of Ratelle.

And Schmautz was a madman, not soft at all.
