Tampa Bay is already advertising Steve Stamkos on its website, so
there's no rummage there. The Kings are a different story with the #2
pick. The next four picks are all d-guys that are pretty close in the
ratings. Add Filitov to the mix, and there's speculation Kings might
move down a few places because someone else might have a strong
preference and be willing to pay for it (or need to move contracts).
Then there's the Pittsburgh factor (they don't have a pick in the
first three rounds). There's also the guessing game - it's the
deepest draft in years, and it's rich in quality d-guys. Maybe the
cost of a trade-up turns out to be a phantom expense.

Fleury was the name that flew by my daydream. If there's even a sniff
it's Malkin, I'd bet the other end of the phone was connected to Tampa
Bay. Malkin for Stamkos would sizzle.

The morning papers were saying that the Pens might dangle Malkin to the
Kings for their pick ,, must be nice to have so much talent on your team
that you could even think of doing this ,, eh Cliffie?
