Kings go 0 for 9 on the PP and still win, 3-2. Kings' PP is better than
that. CHI's penalty killing is worse than that. So: quite an
aberration. And yet the Kings win again!

Hope Flynn is okay. The replay was brutal to watch. The kid's gotta
have a major concussion.

unfortunately, we played perhaps our worst game of the season in the
last game, vs. none other than Detroit. the fact that it was "only"
4-1 until garbage time (2 of those being gift goals from the point),
when we were unusually awful, makes me think the Wings once again
aren't as great as everybody thinks. just think how tired their fogeys
will look come playoff time. I thought our team looked so out of it,
they would have done poorly against the Jr. Kings. for some reason we
just play badly against them this year, and that was no time for a
super let down.

regarding the win vs. Hawks, we played badly in this and still won.
let's hope we can play well tonight on the road vs. the same opponent
in preparation for our tough E. Coast swing.

I also wish Flinn a very speedy recovery, and hope he doesn't decide to hang
up his skates just yet. That was definitely scary.

Our power play needs fixing right now, that's for sure. Too much fancy
passing, and when someone decides to shoot, there's no open lane and no King
camped in front of the net for screens/rebounds, which is inexcusable given
the new rules making it harder for the defense to clear forwards out of
prime scoring areas. I've also noticed we seem to give up a ton of scoring
chances to the opps when they're shorthanded.

The Wings definitely showed how a power play is supposed to perform. Time
for our guys to spend a little time in the video room, maybe?

You're right, the Kings will need to step it way up if they expect to
compete against the likes of OTT, MON, and TOR. Their best hope for a .500
roadie is a win tonight and then a big effort from Garon against his former
team in Montreal. If the Kings manage to knock off either Ottawa or Toronto
in addition, I'll be *really* impressed.

As for Detroit, they've owned the Kings for several seasons now. We get one
more crack at them toward the end of the regular season. Perhaps by that
time age and injuries will have taken their toll, as you suggest...in any
event I think the Kings really need to win that contest and finally get the
monkey off their back.
