Post subject: Lake Placid 80 > How much did the refs make ?
Archived from groups: alt>teens, others (more info?)

This is not to pass judgment on anyone but it is a well known secret that
the
refs were "allegedly"compensated for calling (wink wink) the handicapped
hockey event
Lake Placid Special Olympics (for white people) in 1980
Just curious as to how much.

For those of you who are not familiar, at the height of the cold war after
1980
Special Olympics at Lake Placid , at the Moscow real Olympics the Soviets
got even by calling for the so so Indian real hockey team ageist a touch
better
Pakistani team. (At that time India was somewhat pro-Soviet and Pakistanis
were
Pro-Americans behind the scenes though bit claimed to be neutral)
Of course not to be outdone, the Americans promptly returned the favor at
Los Angels 1984 where a no so good Pakistani team took the gold.

FYI
If you are confused about the naming of newsgroups, work is in progress
already
to remove handicapped hockey postings from rec.sport.hockey & move the
real hockey postings to rec.sport.hockey. A new USENET hierarchy will be
created for handicapped hockey (handicapped because the players who are who
bloody fat need something to move on their own and they wear skates)
In the old days of USENET, the handicapped athletes pulled a fast one and
managed to steal the name. Real hockey is played on all continents by both
men and women
and is part of real Olympics. Handicapped hockey is part of Special
Olympics and played
mostly by fat white men is two or three continents.

God bless
