Iirc, that should be Jonas Hoglund - and I think he was swapped out
when the Boyes/first choice was added.. Watters said years back it
was the answer to the question which non-trade was the biggest shock
(I figured it would be the Lindros non-deal). Antro was in St. John's
at the time. But it was a done deal that got undone. The evaluation
later was Vinnied up (especially after Antro blew a knee only weeks
after the trade fell through), but at the time that offer by Toronto
was the best of breed - LeCav had been shopped around more than once.
Tort and he didn't see eye to eye, and LeCav was getting real tired of
the 'french pastry' feedback. For comparisons, try the Joe trade to
SJS (Marco Sturm, Brad Stuart Wayne Primeau.)
The Boyes comment shouldn't really be there. Brad finally put it
together in St. Louis, but a lot of teams and a lot of season paid for
his education. He had a good year in Boston - and they traded him
out. If he slides in St. Lois they're tied to a $13mil 3-year brake
pad.
