Post subject: Line combinations anyone?
Archived from groups: alt>sports>hockey>nhl>nj-devils (more info?)

Players by position:
Centers:
Madden
Pelley
Zajac
Zubrus
Rupp
Holik
Elias

Wings:
Pandolfo
Parise
Clarkson
Gionta
Langenbrunner
Rolston
Tallackson

We have too many centers, not enough wingers.

I'd like to see them try an Elias-Zajac-Parise line, see if Zajac can
pick his game up. If not, move Holik up there.

Elias and Parise need to be #1 line, no doubts. Perhaps Rolston can fit
there.
So I'm thinking if Zajac can't cut it on the top 2 lines move him to
wing on 3rd line, get him to develop his checking game, which has always
been ok. If he works his ass off and can transition to offense, maybe he
gets back into the top 2 lines.

Parise-Elias-Rolston
Langenbrunner-Holik-Gionta
Pandolfo-Madden-Zajac
Clarkson-Zubrus-Pelley (Tallackson?)

Martin-Salvador
Oduya-White
Vishnevski-Motteau

The D combo could really be anything. Someone needs to step up and
become that guy on D that everyone always looks to. We just haven't had
that after losing Rafalski.
I always liked Colin White, but he showed in the playoffs that the eye
injury may really be an issue. He just didn't look like his old self.
That bumping into Marty thing was really bad.

I believe the Wild had been using Rolston as a center. Don't be
surprised if Sutter tries him there and moves Elias back to LW.

I could actually see Holik becoming the second line center with Parise
and Gionta or something. There are a lot of combinations here. They
won't give Zubrus fourth line ice-time, that would be a total waste.

There's a bit of a glut. A trade later on in the summer is pretty
high now, Lou likes making those July moves.
