Not convinced Higgins/Ryder/Koivu are a good combo, the line needs a
player with some size who can park himself in the slot. This would
open up more ice on the perimeter for Koivu and 1 of either Higgins or
Ryder. As individuals they are getting good scoring chances (other
then Koivu when he is locked into a pass first shoot as a last resort
mode). But nothing is ever sustained, they will get 1 chance then it
is back to the Montreal end to defend. They are not creating enough
rebounds, their linemates can take advantage of. The line as is can be
effective if they can take advantage of a fast break, 2 on 1s or even
2 on 2. But once they face a disciplined box of defenders (who hold
their positions, rather then chase them) they will not be effective as
a line to create scoring chances 5 on 5. The line needs a big winger.
