Seeya!

Honestly Mats..you know you won't win the cup in Vancouver, cash out while
you can man.

It's been great having you serve as captain.

Thanks.

Yea, slow day in Newsville so some Swedish paper wordsmithed a rumour
out of a recap.

As far as the BS goes, try Jim Kelly on Fan590 - his take is that it's
a bad idea for Mats to come back because then the Leafs would be too
good. That'll spin the eyes outa the head, right?

I think people are too concerned with their 'image' and how they will
be viewed in posterity. Take the $20 million.

---------------

They will be too good with Mats to secure a number 1 draft pick. I agree
with Jim Kelly. Mats is the only reason why this team picks 10th every year
instead of 1st, 2nd or 3rd. If you are going to rebuild, then rebuild
right.

Whats the point of having a soon to be 38 year old on a rebuilding team?
All Mats is going to do is keep them respectable. He in no way shape or
form makes them a cup contender. Its tough for me to say these things
because my wife and I have always loved Mats, he has been incredible for the
Leafs, and we have an autographed #13 Mats Sundin jersey hanging in a case
in our family room. But with that said, its time to move on.

Tunnel.

That fishing trip seems to be his sacred vacation time. I'm actually
surprised he mentioned Toronto and the Cup in the same interview.
This is probably the most lopsided, dysfunctional, paper-roster ever.
It's actually getting airplay as a roster built to fail: all the way
to the 50-50 ticket in NHL649.

Interesting comment by Mats about a 2-year deal being rare at his age
- JFJr offered him one last year. Vancouver needs the draw, tho. The
recurring comments about age and condition lead me to believe he's not
sure he wants to do any more damage to his hip. He didn't make it
through last year - and this year could be worse with just a little
push or too, eh?

According to a report on RDS, Mats Sundin will make a decision on his
future on Aug. 1.

At that time the former captain of the Maple Leafs will make a
decision as to whether he will play this upcoming season or simply
retire.

This comes on the heels of Sundin shooting down a report in a Swedish
newspaper that stated that he had decided to accept a $20 million, two-
year deal from the Vancouver Canucks.

Despite the rumours continuing to swirl, Sundin has repeatedly stated
that he has yet to make a decision and several teams, including the
Maple Leafs, remain in the mix.

The 37-year old Sundin is coming off a very productive campaign with
the Leafs, recording 32 goals and 78 points in 74 games.

Yea, read that but couldn't quite figure out how RDS would get a
'source to be named later' to leak. Gainey or one of the players
maybe ... or the office Sundin pool.

The gist seems more about the Habs turning the page.
