I find it useful, to each his own.
Shows me what is of interest to opthers and sometimes a little gem is
discovered that I missed.
I guess you don't need to read those posts then?

TMLFans does a good job at aggregating the various Leafs (and NHL/hockey in
general) stories that are published on the web daily.

Why does it seem to this lurker - sometime poster that 'Owl' gets the
gears more often than not in this NG??

I, for one, like for people to post links. And 'Owl' seems like a
decent enough guy. He seems to know his stuff - why some people give
him grief is puzzling to say the least.

Lay off the guy!

Exactly. I for one enjoy what you bring to the group hoots, even though I
don't always find myself agreeing.

Well, here's your chance. On this bank, the Sharks blew it replacing
RWilson with McLellan is less than best management.

http://tinyurl.com/4gpreu

"McLellan had spent the past three seasons as an assistant in Detroit,
where he was considered a bright offensive coach who led Detroit's
power-play units. The Red Wings had the NHL's top power play in
McLellan's first season, and the second best over his three-year
tenure at 20.1 per cent. McLellan helped the Red Wings knock out the
Sharks in the second round of the playoffs in 2007 and win the Stanley
Cup over Pittsburgh this past season."

Note: the quote inclusion wasn't necessarily necessary ... but it felt
good. :)

Well, if you visit alt.sports.hockey.nhl.sj-sharks you'll find
universal agreement that this was an outstanding move. If you visit
The Feeder ( http://tinyurl.com/5lc9hk ) or HockeyBuzz, you will find
one or two dissenters, but also overwhelming agreement that this was a
fantastic move. McLellan hasn't missed the playoffs in any capacity as
professional coach, head or assistant, since he started coaching! That
says winner to me.

Wilson is defensive minded, McLellan the opposite. A few more goals
scored per game, especially in the post season, and the Sharks would
have separated themselves from the pack and given the Wings some
better competition.

Didn't go there, but guessed that would be the vote in Disappointment
Junction West (the unanimous vote surprises me). BTW, the poll on the
feeder was pretty much pro, but the comments were mixed. From here, a
promotion like McLellan got would have made sense in either Florida,
Atlanta, Chicago (even TO) where there's not so much room to fall. SJ
is rolling the dice on this one when there was enough seasoned talent
around to make a smaller change and insure the current quo.

Owl and I have debated on the "Leafs Rebuilding" topic a few times, but i
can't say i have ever really minded the guy. He is good for this group, and
doesn't troll other groups that i am aware of. I dont mind that he posts
links because the odd time he'll post something of interest that i've
missed. The puns dont really bug me either, but dont dont joke about them.
He doesn't like that. If he disagrees with your opinion, i do think he
could have a little more tact in how he rebuts. ;) But overall, i suspect
he is just a die hard fan that wants to see the Leafs win, which is what
most of us want in here.

Its worth noting since our last debate, Owl no longer responds to any of my
threads which is something he did religiously before. He most likely has me
kilfiled.

You can add me to that list. I think Owl's attitude is better suited for
a blog, than a newsgroup.

I'm sorry that I never got to read that much of Chewy's posts. You
really seem to admire him.

What irritates me about owl is his 'I am right and you are wrong' attitude
which is particularly ridiculous given that most of the topics being debated
are subjective. That and the idiotic pun-based blather he uses to obfuscate
the issue being discussed and/or his opinion. He isn't half as bright as he
thinks he is.
