Jefferson, I realize it is really fun to be in Junior High and to
sneak out of bed to watch retarded cartoons, but
your posting is offensive. Two plane loads of people left Boston on
9/11 and they were murdered by terrorists,
including the B's own Ace Bailey, a Western Canadian.

I am very proud to live in Boston and of the response to this
situation. Obviously, anyone with an IQ over 80 and with
a job has never seen this cartoon. What possible publicity could have
been gained by placing the device under I-93
near a Subway Station (maybe you have heard of the Madrid train
bombings Jefferson?). Planes, buses, and trains,
there is an obvious trend.

Ask an Iraqui or Vietnam vet, about the danger of what appears to be
an innocuous device. Ask the Boston Bomb Squad,
what it feels like to see a fellow officer blown up.

Also, they blocked some of the major arteries to the local hospitals,
I hope no one's health was comprised by the delay the
ambulances had in getting to the MGH.

These two scumbags deserve the book thrown at them. Their attitude is
appalling. I especially hope the Belarus lad
gets both a shower and a deportation notice.

According to something I read a long time ago (sorry, I can't name the
source because I can't remember where I read it) when the Soviets
invaded Afghanistan they were met with such resitance that one ploy
that they tried was to leave toys around the landscape that would be
of interest to Afghan children. These toys would be rigged with a
bomb, with the idea (I guess) being to demoralize the locals who were
providing the resistance. Given the current state of the world and
where a lot of these Lite-Brites were placed (on structual parts of
bridges) I think that the response by the local authorities was
appropiate.

Wasn't it the Boston PD what killed a reveler with a rubber bullet to

Maybe if Turner Broadcasting notified the Boston authorities it would have
made a whole lot of difference. After 9/11, you can't take any chances or
at least shouldn't..... when you see something with lights and wires
hanging down, from under a bridge or public transportation, why would you
assume it was some stupid cartoon marketing gimmick. I, for one, am proud
of the way the fireman and police reacted.... Next time, God forbid, it
might be a bomb ....

I'm always proud of the first responders... but these things were in
place for three weeks. The flow should have been like this:

(1) 911 caller says, funny-looking box with wires and batteries and
lights hanging from wherever
(2) Cop dispatched, has a look. Asks passersby (these were in heavily-
traveled places), you have any idea how long that's been up there?
Somebody says, "At least a week or two." Cop asks, what the hell is that
figure made out of a Light Bright?" Somebody says, "That's a Mooninite
flipping the bird. I think it's Err." Cop says, "'Mooninite'? 'Err'?"
Guy says, "Cartoon Network TV show; Adult Swim." Cop says, "Right..."
(3) A single bomb squad is dispatched to investigate. Sees that it is a
battery-powered Light Bright.
(4) Angry phone call is made by mayor's office to Turner: "What do you
know about Light Brites of "Mooninites" all over Boston?"
(5) Turner's fesses up, remaining Light Brites are removed from
everywhere. Everyone agrees this was not a good idea, but an entire city
is not tied up in a knot.
