Ya know what would settle this argument once and for all? If each country
put together a team and we held a tournament with roun-robin play and...
uh, no, not with this group. That's too obvious.
Okay how about this? We'll take the total number of players from each
country, divide it by the number of teams in the NHL, multiply that figure
by the total goals scored by the top 10 players in each group and then
factor in the aggregate plus/minus of those 10 players. The whole group gets
plus 20 if Don Cherry ever said, "This guy, ya gotta love this guy!" aboot
anyone in the group.

It wouldn't matter to xpeneneneny. Any fair assessment shows the same
result but he'll never be able to admit it. We own this game. Hockey
is Canada.

Actually, Americans own 25 of the 30 teams (24 if you consider Wang a
Chinaman). So we own this game.

The majority of the players in the NHL are Canadian, but that number
slips every year, and will no longer be true a couple years from now. At
that point, there will be absolutely nothing to justify the statement
that Canadia owns hockey. Right now, you have that majority and a couple
meaningless tourneys. So enjoy that while it lasts. Before long, you're
going to have about as much claim to that title as Slovakia does.

See that? A Canadian says, "Hockey" and you, an American, hear "NHL". You
just don't, or won't get it.

My family is grown up and I'm past playing but for most Canadians, hockey is
part of their everyday life. A lot (more than you would guess) pay very
little attention to NHL but between the kids in minor and the dad in rec
they spend 4 nights a week, in season, at the arena. 'Hockey', up here' doe
not equal 'NHL'.
Listen again.
Nobody in the world except you and a couple other dolts would deny that
hockey is dominated by Canada. You and those other dolts must figure you're
the only ones in the world who can see the truth.
