Olczyk is evidently still bitter about being fired. It seems like he
thinks that everything the Pens did in the playoffs was dirty. It's
really hard to take after a while. Move on, Eddie!

Nobody should fall for it when it's Sykora. Wasn't like it was Chara or
Boogaard or some other monster. It was Sykora.

NHL violence is like high school violence now, you got one guy diving trying
to get someone a detention and then a bunch of suckerpunches on people that
were held by someone else, refs, other players, whatever.

Then of course, there was the epic Langenbrunner/Gomez purse fight.

I wish a bunch of old school players would show up and whip up on everyone
on the ice like in that mercenary scene from "Slapshot".

Oh big deal. How many shots were the Pens going to send at Franzen's
head? That was way worse than a dive - that was "hitting a concussion
victim's head a lot behind the play." God, I can't wait for the Pens to
get swept.

He doesn't have to play, Josh. That stuff was weak. It wasn't like
they were dropping their gloves and hauling off on him with big left hooks,
if he is so bad off that he's going to get hurt by that, he should not be
out there.

It stands. Osgood is a pussy.

He doesn't have to play, and if he does play he should be prepared for
standard rough play. If you know someone has an injured leg, it's not
even that big a deal if you take a couple of whacks at it to test it. It
just seems different when you take a couple of whacks at someone's head
to test it though, away from the play.

Of course, it could just be that I loathe the Pens.

Now, with Detroit up 3-1 don't be surprised if the "new Chris Osgood"
shrivels into the "old Chris Osgood". Detroit needs to nail down Game
5 or experience the equivalent of Dick Clark aging 20 years in one day.

osgood was good last night. can't really fault him on any of the
goals. he should have had better protection around the net with the
cup in their grasp and only 30 seconds to go. the pens hung on for
dear life and were fortunate to win, but deserve some credit,
especially given the situation.

that said, there will be no panic in detroit's game and they WILL win
this thing, even if it takes 7.

btw, i was watching crosby closely, this being the biggest game of his
career, and despite his 2 assists and 35 minutes of ice time, i
thought he was pretty invisible and probably had his worst game of the
playoffs. surprising.
