Outsider who's curious about what's wrong with this franch..

I'm a big hockey fan who's interested in what's wrong with the once-
proud Chicago Blackhawks. I'm not trying to insult the franchise but
generally interested in what's going on there. I read the boxscores
everyday and always see 10,000-11,000 for attendance. Its an original
6 team with a long history. What goes on? I've heard the owner is
unpopular and never allows home games to be televised? What's the
logic there? Is there any hope for this team. Furthermore, if the
owner is running this team into the ground, how does Bettman allow
this, Chicago is a vital market for the league. Any information would
be helpful

It's shameful what has happened to Chicago. Most will point the finger at
the owner. There is some evidence that he may be the worst owner in pro
sports. I don't live near Chicago, but they were my favorite team growing
up. I rarely if ever get to see them anymore, and switched my allegiance to
the local team years ago.

I think that Bettman is too concerned with growing hockey in non-traditional
markets (the south) to be concerned with the problems in Chicago. I think
the best thing that could happen to the franchise is an ownership change.
