I did not like Balsillie, he seemed like a weasel to me. I guess the NHL
told him Pittsburgh or nothing. Maybe Mark Cuban will step up this time.
Reading his blog, it seems like he will. I was living in Dallas when he
bought the Mavericks, he turned them from perennial losers to a first class
organization.

I never trusted him either. It was obvious his priority is not on
keeping the Pens here. Cuban would be great. Maybe Mario can team up
with Cuban or if Cuban buys the team he can get Mario involved somehow.
Has Lemieux said anything about his future plans yet?

Amen to that! Let's hope Murphy was wrong about, "The fix is in."
I can't stand Rendell. Once again Rendell and the state legislature
will screw over the PAT and thus us PAT riders. Adjusted for cost of
living the PAT union drivers are the highest paid in the nation. Every
year PAT funding is up in the yea! There are problems on their side
with mismangement, foolish projects (MFE, W tunnel, NSC) and labor
costs, but the way the Harrisburg and the governor leaves them in the
wind each year and thus the riders is inexcusable. It's freaking
cheaper to ride the public transportation in New York city than
Pittsburgh! That is madness.

F'n strange situation.
Between the Malkin signing and the ownership issue, a mini series could be
made based on this season. >> Stay informed about: PENS STAYING IN PITTSBURGH...NO MATTER WHAT!?! |

I don't think Cuban's interest is genuine.

The timing of this thing is what is strange. Why not wait to see what
happens on Weds. Was Balsillie sure that IOC gets the license and he would
not be able to move team? Or did he think IOC would not get license and he
would be stuck in Pittsburgh without an arena and not being able to move
team.

Ah, man...
yanno what? Both Lemieux and Cowher have done good for their respective
teams. I appreciate them both. But as a fan, I understand that the
commitment they have is a BUSINESS arangement and not a marriage.
In the long run, they both (as well as anyone else in pro sports) have to
do what they think is best for themselves and their families.
Mario has been involved with the Pens since he was drafted. Cowher is
only the Steelers third coach in my LIFETIME.
Harbor no ill-will against those guys.
If the Pens end up moving, there's probably a list of people and
organizations more deserving of blame than Lemieux. >> Stay informed about: PENS STAYING IN PITTSBURGH...NO MATTER WHAT!?! |

I understand it is a business, especially Cowher's side. But I
expected more from Mario. He is the owner now and a Pittsburgher.
Guess I expected him to look out for the city. Its one thing to quit a
job like Cowher, its another to be responsible for the franchise
leaving town.

I really am having a difficult time finding room to blame Lemieux for
that.
He's waived salary, bought a broke team and came back from retirement to
pop attendance. I understand where our trolling guests would find
cynicism in that, and I would be a fool to not agree that alot of what
he's done was based in self interest; but alot of what he's done has been
for the mutual interests of himself AND the team.
He bought a lemon, rebuilt the engine and did the body work. Now he
wants the return on his work. He kept his car in his own garage. It's
up to the next owner to decide where to park it now. >> Stay informed about: PENS STAYING IN PITTSBURGH...NO MATTER WHAT!?! |

Don't think I am a trolling guest. Am not trying to start anything. I have
just been put off by Mario lately.

lol. Nah. Never made that assumption. If I thought ya were a troll, I
would have been just a little more hostile. ;)
I'm just packing alot of sympathy for Lemieux in a very sticky, and most
likely, a very uncomfortable situation right now. >> Stay informed about: PENS STAYING IN PITTSBURGH...NO MATTER WHAT!?! |
